Although the article was written in mid-February, the Plain Dealer News has an excellent writeup about our upcoming Lou Ruvo Brain Center here in Las Vegas.
The Cleveland Clinic plans to extend its health care mission to America’s West, taking up residence at an architecturally stunning building in Las Vegas where it will develop new treatments for cognitive brain disorders like Alzheimer’s.
The Clinic has joined ranks with Larry Ruvo, a well-known Las Vegas philanthropist, to run a brain in stitute in the city best known for its glitzy allure. Ruvo, who’s father, Lou, suffered from Alzheimer’s, has raised millions for the cause, and recruited famed architect Frank Gehry to build a 65,000-square-foot institute that includes space for patient rooms, a museum, research and events.
ALS of Nevada has plans to move into this new center when it opens, which is marvelous news! A bit more centrally located, right off the freeway, access to our resources (and help with our own trips to patients’ homes) will be much easier to manage.
